Women farmers and climate change: Empirical evidence from Burkina Faso

Abstract This study examines the factors influencing women farmers’ choice of adaptation strategies to reduce negative impacts climate change and effects these on household income food insecurity. A field survey was conducted among 426 farmers in Center-North region, which covers 7% Burkina Faso territory. Descriptive statistics, a multinomial logit model, propensity score matching model were used analyze data collected. The results econometric analysis show that high domestic tasks, type shocks experienced, membership women’s group, financial constraints are important determinants decisions. Adaptation also found have positive impact These different findings highlight need prioritize flexible options improve resilience change, rather than generic solutions.
